About
Healing begins with love and love begins within.
Henzo Haven
Founded on the Swahili term for “love” – Henzo, Henzo Haven cultivates an atmosphere devoted to helping you rediscover self-love and experience inner wholeness.
Our healing philosophy combines the 12-week Framework, a step-by-step journey through awareness, release, and restoration, with The Six Pillars of Self-Mothering, a practice-based guide for nurturing emotional safety and self-trust.
The Six Pillars include:
- Boundaries
- Emotional Literacy
- Self-Care
- Gentle Discipline
- Self-Compassion
- Pleasure & Play
My Story
Henzo Haven was born from love and from the longing to heal what love once wounded. This work is profoundly intimate, stemming from the pain of a mother wound and a father wound. And after many years of trying to seek healing, I discovered that the mother wound was the core wound, and it cast a shadow over every aspect of my life. It showed up in relationships, emotional regulation, and self-worth until I saw that much of it traced back to my earliest attachments.
Given the significant esteem for mothers, a role frequently considered sacred and likened to being “second to God” in certain cultures, many Black communities shy away from discussions concerning the mother wound. So, for a long time, I did not have a language for my pain. This made the journey very challenging, but the journey gave me the courage to name what was unspoken and to create a space where others could do the same safely, compassionately, and without shame.
Through Henzo Haven, I guide Black women who are ready to understand their emotional patterns and reclaim the love within themselves. My own experiences guide my lessons, but I also respect the uniqueness of everyone’s path, so I choose a collaborative, peer-led structure instead of a hierarchical one. Henzo, a Kenyan name signifying love, represents my belief that love is a constant in healing, no matter your perspective: spiritual, emotional, or interpersonal.
